Aikido is a soft style throwing art. The essence of Aikido is a practitioner’s ability to use an assailant’s force against him or her for the purpose of self defense.
Described by its founder as the “Art of Reconciliation,” Aikido easily fits into a Christian worldview. Applied properly, Aikido techniques leave no lasting injury. With relaxation and poise, students learn a myriad of traditional throws and immobilizations that are both beautiful and astonishingly effective. Skilled execution of the techniques requires focus and attention to detail. A well trained Aikido student can throw a much larger opponent with ease.
Our instructors emphasize safety for all participants. Students regularly practice proper breakfalls and caution when executing potentially injurious techniques.
