How can a Christian be involved in karate or participate in other martial arts?

Many martial arts are taught from either a non Christian faith base or are ego-driven. You’ll find our purpose and Christian perspective refreshing and encouraging in every aspect.

Do I have to call to set up a trial class?

Yes, we want to give you personal attention and the best experience possible. Please call 757-685-KICK (5425) for a free private lesson.

Do I have to sign up for a particular class schedule?

For Lil’ Dragons, yes please choose 2 or 3 classes per week and stick to that schedule. For Karate, no. Karate students may attend an unlimited number of classes for their level or below.

What should I wear to my first class?

Wear any clothing you find comfortable and can easily move around in. Bear in mind the need for modesty, as all classes are co-ed.

How do I obtain a Savior Martial Arts® uniform?

All students may purchase their uniforms after first earning them by showing a good attitude, working hard, and reciting the first two memory verses (John 3:16, 1 John 4:10) to a sensei. (No memory verse requirement for Lil' Dragon students).

How many classes should I attend per week?

We recommend minimum of two or three, to put in enough time to thoroughly learn the material and progress at the expected rate.

I have a 6 year old. Should I choose Lil’ Dragons or Karate?

Generally, whether or not the child is reading well is a good indicator of a child’s preparedness for the full Karate program. However, we find it best for the individual to try each program for a couple of classes. It will be clear to you, as a parent, where your child fits best.

I can’t get my child to behave at home. Can you teach them some discipline?

Discipline and respect are two major components of our curriculum. Although we can offer no guarantees, we have many success stories of children who have responded well to the positive peer pressure of the behavior standards we expect.

My child has a belt from another school. Will that rank transfer to your system?

No, every martial arts system is unique. Your child’s training may, however, allow faster progression through our ranking system.

How long does it take to earn a Black Belt?

Students who train consistently, generally reach Black Belt in 3 to 4 years. Adults typically progress faster than young children.

My child has a handicap. Can you teach him / her?

That depends totally on the level of the handicap. We do have handicapped students who, as a result of strong personal motivation, have done remarkably well. We do not, however, have the staff to offer constant individual instruction. Contact us to discuss the possibilities.

I’m not a Christian. Is this a problem?

No, we welcome all new students. However, the spiritual requirements remain the same, regardless of your spiritual beliefs.
